A STORY OF EXILE.
Argelès-sur-mer is now a family seaside mediterranean resort. There were parked the Spanish exiles during the Retirada, the retreat of the republican troops against the fascist troops of the dictator Franco.
Many people in the south of France come from this history, largely hidden.

lyrics
ARGELES, MY LOVE,
Your sand has entombed so many tears,
Your tears have buried so many castles build in the spanish air,
Trampled so many erratic Retiradas (exiles).
What remains of our loves, Argelès?
From our makeshift barracks?
Only some churros spread with Ambre solaire (sun cream)...
I would camp in Argelès…
There is a seaside resort,
Full of bearded dads and candy pink,
Once the place where Spanish people were held,
Today colony of silver gulls.
Are you here to be invaded, Argelès ?
Teruel, you’re killing me !
I won’t kill my people anymore !
Passar al pueblo ! (Come over to the people !)
El caudillo, escoria ! (El Caudillo, Franco, scumbag !)
This first man,
This first name.
Welcoming the stories of others while mine does not exist.
The mysteries of time and space open to me...
(We are the heirs of a wandering wound of yesterday and today)
(We are the heirs of heroines and heroes, of a windy exile)
Existo luego yo lo digo
(I exist so I say it)
//
ARGELES, MON AMOUR,
Teruel, tu me tues!
Je ne tuerai plus les miens!
Passar al pueblo!
El caudillo (Frabnco), escoria ! (ordure !)
